Vice President Engages WaterAid Ghana on Water and Sanitation Challenges

Vice President of the Republic, H.E. Prof. Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang, has met with a delegation from WaterAid Ghana to discuss issues relating to water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH).

WaterAid, which has been operating in Ghana for the past 40 years, used the meeting to reaffirm its commitment to universal access to safe water as a driver of improved public health.

The Vice President commended the organization for its long-standing contributions while also drawing attention to recent incidents of water pollution. She assured the delegation that government is taking active steps to address these challenges with durable solutions.

“Ensuring our water is safe and clean requires a collective effort,” Prof. Opoku-Agyemang said, adding that government would scale up proven interventions while strengthening partnerships that directly confront problems rather than deferring them.

She further encouraged WaterAid Ghana to amplify its advocacy internationally to spotlight the environmental injustices facing Africa in relation to safe water and sanitation.

The meeting underscored the government’s call for collaboration with stakeholders to safeguard Ghana’s water resources and advance universal access to clean water.
