Gobah’s Highlife Joins International Exhibition Exploring African Unity

We are delighted to share that Highlife (2026), a commissioned work by Kɔsi Gobah (b. 2002) for Ka xoxowo Salon, has been featured in the official catalogue accompanying Unity, the international exhibition of contemporary African art presented as part of the World Public Summit: New World – Africa in Shaping a Shared Future.

Bringing together artists from sixteen African countries, the exhibition reflects on unity not as a fixed ideal, but as “an ongoing process of relating to the — to one’s own culture, to history, to society, to personal experience, and to the values that allow differences to be acknowledged without erasing them.”


Gobah’s Highlife (2026) takes Kwame Nkrumah as its point of departure, drawing from a historical photograph made during the celebration of his birthday.

Commissioned by Ka xoxowo Salon, Highlife reflects our continuing commitment to supporting ambitious artistic practices that engage critically with history, memory, and contemporary African thought.
