Ghana Signs Deal to Expand Gas Output from OCTP Project
The Government of Ghana, led by the Minister for Energy, Hon. Dr. John Abdulai Jinapor, and the Minister for Finance, Hon. Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, has signed a key term sheet with Eni Ghana E&P, Vitol Upstream Ghana Limited and the Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC) to expand domestic gas production from the Offshore Cape Three Points (OCTP) project.
The agreement sets out commercial principles to support new infrastructure under the OCTP Non-Associated Gas Upgrade Project, building on a Memorandum of Intent signed in September 2025.
Gas output is expected to increase by up to 350 million standard cubic feet per day by 2028, driven by development of the Gye Nyame field and the installation of additional systems on the project’s floating production vessel.
Officials say the expansion will strengthen energy security, reduce reliance on imported fuels and meet rising demand, while reinforcing investor confidence in Ghana’s petroleum sector.
