Finance Minister Welcomes IMF Mission for Fifth Review of Ghana Programme

Ghana’s Minister for Finance, Hon. Dr. Casiel Ato Forson, has announced the commencement of the Fifth Review of Ghana’s IMF-Supported Programme following a meeting with the IMF Mission team, led by Dr. Ruben Atoyan.
Speaking after the engagement, Dr. Forson described the meeting as an important step in Ghana’s ongoing economic recovery efforts. “We began the year with many challenges, but together we have been able to steady the tide and make significant progress,” he said.
The Minister acknowledged that risks remain but reaffirmed government’s commitment to addressing them. He noted that current indicators show positive trends, creating optimism for continued stability. “This mission provides us with an important opportunity to receive valuable feedback on the work we have done so far in serving the people of Ghana,” Dr. Forson added.
For his part, Dr. Ruben Atoyan, who leads the IMF team, expressed the Fund’s readiness to engage Ghanaian authorities constructively during the review. He noted that the team looks forward to the discussions in the coming days.
The Fifth Review is expected to assess Ghana’s performance under the IMF-Supported Programme and determine the next steps in sustaining reforms aimed at restoring macroeconomic stability and fostering inclusive growth.
