Societe Generale Ghana Announces Third Edition of ARTENT!ON

Societe Generale Ghana, in partnership with African Movie Box (AMB), has launched the third edition of its flagship creative arts programme — ARTENT!ON — marked by a well-curated and intimate ceremony, held at the La Foundation for the Arts.

The event was graced by executives and staff of SG Ghana, leading industry figures, and avant-garde artists.

ARTENT!ON empowers emerging Ghanaian filmmakers to tell impactful stories aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) — encouraging projects which challenge perspectives and inspire change. As the bank’s flagship creative arts program, ARTENT!ON, has for the past two editions, evolved to become one of Ghana’s most impactful platforms for the expression of arts and discovery of rare talent.

Managing Director of Societe Generale Ghana, Mr. Hakim Ouzzani, addressing the audience during the event, announced that the programme has returned with a renewed focus on stimulating youth-focused, widespread creativity in Ghana’s film industry.

“With support from our industry partner, African Movie Box (AMB) young talents will be given the opportunity to produce their very own short films telling impactful stories through film making”, he announced.

“As a bank, we pride ourselves with values of innovation, sustainability and responsibility and we have always believed in the power of art to carry these values powerfully. It is for that reason that we are challenging filmmakers in this year’s ARTENT!ON, to highlight key social or environmental issues plaguing our society” Mr. Ouzzani added.

African Movie Box praised SG Ghana for being one of the first financial institutions to rally strongly behind the creative arts space.

“Today we see a lot of other financial institutions supporting the arts, making contributions, which is important, and we applaud SG Ghana for being one of the first institutions to pioneer such an initiative to support the industry” said CEO of AMB, Edwin Otta.

AMB is collaborating with SG Ghana this year to give five 5 teams of emerging talented film makers the opportunity to create their very own short films, telling impactful stories through filmmaking. The themes include inclusive communities; art & activism; encouraging women; cultural preservation; and affordable clean energy.

ARTENT!ON 2025 commences with a call for emerging filmmakers to register their interest in the programme.

All members must be between 18 and 31 years old. Crews must include a Writer, Director, Cinematographer, Lead Actor/Actress, and an Editor. Editors must have access to their own equipment and software. Teams must include at least 2 female members. And inclusion of persons with disabilities in cast or crew is strongly encouraged.
